What is Connected TV?

In broad terms a Connected TV is a Television (usually a HDTV) that connects to the internet via your modem and access content from the internet directly (without interfacing your computer to it) through a navigation system provided by the connected TV manufacturer or a set up box / connected gaming console supplier. Most of the new high end televisions nowadays are connected TV sets. It is estimated that 62% of TV sold by 2013 will be connected TVs.

From the navigation system of your connected TV, you will be accessing a wide range of programs that you will then stream from the net directly on your TV. These programs can be free, pay per view, require a subscription or restricted to a professional audience.
